Tehran, City of Love

تهران، شهر عشق

DIRECTED BY: Ali Jaberansari

A village singer, a former bodybuilding champion, and a stalking secretary. Three loners live in an overpopulated Tehran, where people care mainly about their outward appearance and hide their feelings. All three are desperately searching for soulmates and do everything they can to get over their fears and pronounce their love.

This heartfelt story presents a sketch of those searching for warmth and connection in a society that does not embrace them back. It is a dark, yet funny anti-rom com embodied by terrifically exceptional characters, and beautifully interjected with wry social commentary. The film is a work that heralds a subversively queer new wave in Iranian cinema.
