Rona, Azim's Mother

رونا، مادر عظیم

DIRECTED BY: Jamshid Mahmoudi

Earning a miserable wage doing tough communal work, a middle-aged Afghan refugee finds himself torn between keeping his fragile family together and taking care of his aging ill mother.

As the pressures from family, doctors, work, and bitterly unjust living conditions in Iran become unbearable, he begins to lose grip of his principles and finds himself at a crossroads where he is forced to make the toughest decision of his life.

A poignant and graceful portrait of a man who goes to extremes to keep his family and dignity intact, this film is one of the most delicate and heart-wrenching works of Iranian cinema in years.
