An imaginative boy and his blind younger sister pretend to drive Formula 1 race cars in the dreary scrapyard where they live. He dreams up whimsical scencarios to bring color into his sister’s life, and escape the growing distance between their parents.

Maryam Zarei

Maryam Zarei is among the emerging generation of young arthouse filmmakers in Iran who has made waves with her arrival into the cinematic world. With a background in theatre directing, Zarei is a self-taught film director with an imaginative and natural talent behind the lens. Magralen (2019), which premiered at Berlinale last year, was a recipient of the Golden Knight Award at Malta International Short Film Festival and continues to charm audiences across the globe today.
