Castle of Dreams

قصر شیرین

DIRECTED BY: Reza Mirkarimi

An estranged man emerges from years of silence to steal his ex-wife’s car while she nears her death in the hospital. As he attempts to avoid all familial responsibility, he is confronted by his two doe-eyed children, who have been left behind to fend for themselves. Winding aimlessly through rolling hills in a decrepit red station wagon, he discovers the imaginary, fantasy world that has been dreamt up to cope with his absence.

A simple story at its core, this sensational road drama guides viewers through a broken family’s dealings with deceit, regret, and redemption, revealing the most unforgiving of complexities.
